Novo: Bar Builder ("the App") provides the ability to create customizable announcement bars with text, images, and interactive elements ("the Service") to merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.

Information the App Accesses

When you install the App, we request the following permissions from your Shopify account:

• read_themes - to check if your app extension is enabled in the active theme
• read_files, write_files - to upload and manage images used in ticker content
• read_metaobjects, write_metaobjects - to store and retrieve ticker configuration data
• read_metaobject_definitions, write_metaobject_definitions - to define the ticker data structure
• read_products - to enable product-based targeting for tickers
• read_locales - to support multilingual ticker content

Data We Store

We store the following information in our secure database:

• Shop domain (e.g., your-store.myshopify.com)
• Shop contact email - used solely for support communication
• Access token - required for API operations on your behalf

All ticker content data (text, styles, settings) is stored in Shopify Metaobjects on Shopify infrastructure, not on external servers.

We do not collect any customer personal information. The App does not request or access customer data such as names, emails, addresses, or orders.

Analytics

We use PostHog for anonymous product analytics within the Shopify admin interface to improve the App experience. Sensitive parameters (such as authentication tokens) are stripped before any analytics events are sent. No personally identifiable information is sent to third-party analytics.

On the storefront, the App may load Google Fonts to display custom typography selected by the merchant. No tracking or analytics scripts are loaded on the storefront.

How Do We Use Your Information?

We use the information we collect from you in order to provide the Service and to operate the App. Specifically, we use this information to:

• Authenticate your store and provide access to the App
• Store and display your ticker configurations
• Communicate with you regarding support and product updates
• Improve and optimize the App

Data Retention and Deletion

Ticker content data is stored in Shopify Metaobjects and is automatically managed by Shopify. When you uninstall the App, your shop record in our database is marked as deleted. Metaobject data follows Shopify data lifecycle and is removed when the shop is deleted.

We respond to the following Shopify mandatory compliance webhooks:

• customers/data_request - we confirm that we do not store customer personal data
• customers/redact - we confirm that no customer data needs to be deleted
• shop/redact - shop data in Metaobjects is automatically handled by Shopify

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties, except as required to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Your Rights

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

We process your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you, or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Your information may be transferred outside of Europe, including to the United States.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Novo shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to the use of the App. The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. By using the App, you acknowledge and agree that you assume full responsibility for any risks associated with its use.
